TRIBUTES

Honor your hero with thoughts, memories, images and stories.

  • George and I went through advanced training and airborne training in Georgia before we were sent to Vietnam; where he was assigned to company a and I was just signed Company B of the first Battalion airborne 12 Cav, 1st Cav division in AnKhe, Vietnam. He was a good friend and I’ve missed him every day since that miserable day in March when he was killed. I salute his sacrifice Every year with a shot of crown royal on memorial day. And I try to live a life for both of us to make up for his loss. I’ll see him again on the other side of heaven. Thanks for your sacrifice George. A friend closer than a brother.

  • 59 years ago my friend George Anthony Cañnata Junior was killed in Pleiku Vietnam, and I still miss him. He paid the ultimate price and never came home but I celebrate his life every day.
