  • Willard M. Docken was my uncle. He was one of 10 children, one being my mother, Lila Barbara Docken Atkinson. He enlisted June 28, 1944 and was killed in action in the Battle of the Bulge on March 3, 1945. His gold star mother was Mildred Baker Docken and father was Oscar Theodore Docken. I was not born when he died so I never knew him. I am so proud of his service and the sacrifice he and his family made for this country. It is November 19, 2014 as I type this and my daughter and grandchildren are living in a country he fought and died for. Our freedoms are bought and paid for with his blood. We must never lose site of and never forget the sacrifices that were made for us and see to it they remain until the end of time. God Bless you Uncle Willard, rest in peace. Job well done.
