Honor your hero with thoughts, memories, images and stories.
Will is my youngest son and wanted to protect his family and country, so after 9/11, he felt it fell to him to join the Army since his 2 older brothers were married and had families. Will comes from a family who has many veterans. He joined at the age of 19 when he was sent to Germany. He called when he got there to tell me he had volunteered to go to Iraq! I chided him that he couldn't tell me in person! His response was, "NO Ma'am!" Will grew into a man while in the Army. He became a fan of the ancient Roman warriors and adopted their motto as his own: Strength and Honor. I was told that this was how he ended every conversation and grabbed your arm like the Romans did as a hand shake. Every officer wanted him on their team and everyone wanted to be his friend and he was. Will was a big brother to many who lacked guidance and taught them all that he knew and encouraged them to be better soldiers/men. Those who were on his team would follow him to hell and back.....we all miss him terribly.
