Weston H. Thompson, Jr. , known to family and friends as Tom, without hesitation, selflessly sacrificed his young life to save his trapped fellow comrades in a fierce battle near Chuggo jan, Korea on January 30, 1952. His heroic actions drew enemy fire upon himself to enable his patrol to escape, with the wounded, to safer ground. Tom's gallantry saved many American lives that day, but sadly, not his own. A hero's actions remind us of the incredible courage it takes to make a critical difference for others. Tom Thompson, Private First Class, Company "L", 15th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army, will always be a hero, always be loved and always be dearly missed by those who knew him and those family members who wish they had the chance to have known him. God Keep You Always in Our Hearts.
