Honor your hero with thoughts, memories, images and stories.
I served with B Battery 2bn 11th Artillery on Fire Base Bihn Dihn and knew Samuel who was a medic with the 327th Infantry. He was a wonderful man, great soldier, and would constantly take care of solider on the Fire Base. His presence was a boast in morale because of his caring for all the soldiers on the Fire Base. The night he was killed was a shock to all of us, he talked about leaving to go home is tour was almost over. When the mortar tube exploded I ran to help in any way I could. Sadly he was mortally wounded. His death left a hole in our heart. His care of soldiers, was above and beyond the call of duty. I miss him to this day. I remember 8 July 1971. Thank you Sam. You will never be forgotten. I have picture of the Fire Base and the Infantry position. Respectfully, Harold Lewis, Command Sergeants Major, (Retired) U.S. Army. Field Artillery
