30, of Clarksville, Virginia; assigned to 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.; died October 13, 2012 in Spin Boldak, Afghanistan, of wounds caused by an improvised explosive device.
U.S. Army Sergeant Robert John Billings is now present with his Lord and Savior after he made the ultimate sacrifice by giving his life for his country in Afghanistan on October 13, 2012.
Born in Ventura, California, he was the son of Kelly Eugene Billings and Hope Lea Smith Billings of Amarillo, Texas.
Robert was a member of The House of Prayer in Clarksville, Va. He loved life, enjoyed people and valued his family and friends. He was a dedicated and intuitive soldier.
Billings is survived by his parents, his wife, Christy Lynn; his two daughters, Kaili and Naomi; his two sons, Isaiah Luke; a brother, Chad; his maternal grandparents, Inez and Johnny of Oxnard, CA; and his paternal grandparents, Kelly and Elaine of Michigan; and many aunts, uncles and extended family.
