Word was received by Mrs. Bob Corley from the war department, giving notification that her son, Pfc. Otis W. Lasater, 34, had been missing in action since 11 February 1944 somewhere in action in Italy. Private First Class Lasater is a member of the 36th Texas division in the European theater. A letter from her son dated 10 February was received by Mrs. Corley the day before the notification was received. He was with the 142nd Infantry and had been in Italy for about a year. He received training at Camp Bowie in Texas, in Florida and in Massachusetts.
Killed in service to his country during World War II in Italy. His body was brought back to the States for burial
Pfc. Otis W. Lasater, son of Mrs. Mattie Corley, Graham, attended Ming Ben School. Entered Army in 1941, trained at Camp Bowie, Tex., La., Fla., and mass. Served in Africa and Italy. Awarded GC, Inf. Badge, and Purple Heart. Killed in action in Italy, near Casino, 1944.
