TRIBUTES

Honor your hero with thoughts, memories, images and stories.

  • Orville Lee and I went all through school together, he was a great friend. He was married and a baby was on the way when he was drafted. He got tocome home and see her once before he died. His daughter and our son went to school together. I serve as our Gold Star Mother chairman for Unit 236 in Sharpsburg, MD. It gave me an opportunity to help his mom and get even closer to her before she passed away a few yrs ago. She was so supportive of me when our son was in Iraq and so happy when he came home. I was blessed to be a Blue Star Mother not Gold Star. Thank you to our heros and their families. God bless them all.

  • I am so blessed to have the position as chairperson for the Unit 236 Gold Star Mothers' committee. I knew this hero and now have even gotten closer to his mom. As a Blue Star Mother twice, I know somewhat what these ladies went through. I was blessed with our son's coming home alive. These ladies made me feel so proud, they were so supportive, they have become family. We owe a lot to parents who raise such good sons.
