  • Nick was my late grandfather's brother and entered the service from Cleveland, Ohio. He served as a paratrooper with C. Co 1/505th PIR, 82nd Airborne from November 1942 until his death on July 6, 1944 in Normandy. He made three successful combat jumps during the war: Sicily, Salerno, and Normandy. He was a radio man. Nick was accidentally shot in the stomach by a fellow solider near Fresville in Lower Normandy in the early hours of June 6. He died later that day, at age 28, and was interred at Normandy American Cemetery. Despite the tragic circumstances of his death, we couldn't be prouder of Nick. His memory lives on through each and every member of the family.
