On May 18, 1970, the 1st and 2nd Brigades continued to operate in north central Tay Ninh Province and a portion of Kampong Province, Cambodia. At 1330 hours, the Recon Platoon located a base camp and weapons cache just northwest of Romeas Chol at XU 249016. Sergeant Bacher was killed in an accidental explosion.
