  • H CO 3 BN 7 MAR RGT 1 MAR DIV WESTERN OUTPOSTS HANGDONG-NI OUTPOST FRISCO PFC KENNETH EDWARD MCGRADY May 26, 1933, JERSEY CITY NJ Private First Class McGrady was a member of Company H, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. Ken was wounded first on June 19, then August 15, 1952 on Bunker Hill. Weeks later he returned to H Co. On October 3, 1952, the night sky above Outpost Frisco was filled with the artillery and mortar shells of the attacking Chinese army. The number of incoming rounds reached a rate of 1,000 per hour. Outpost Frisco was a forward observation point on a hill 600 yards in front of the main line of resistance. It was manned by one platoon of the First Marine Division. Ken and the squad were seriously wounded by an air-burst shell while fighting the enemy at combat outpost "Frisco" in North Korea. He was flown by helicopter to the USS Respose where died of those wounds on the night of October 6, 1952. The American fighting force on Outpost Frisco consisted of one Marine platoon of about 54 men—only eight Marines walked off that hill. God Bless him.
