Granville – First reported missing in action in Germany since Nov. 30, the war department Friday informed Mrs. James R. Boyd that her husband, Private Boyd, 23, was killed on that day. His widow, the former Hazel Greathouse is employed at the Seneca shipyard and she and her two sons, Richard, 4 and Ronald 1, are making their home here with her mother, Mrs. Ida Greathouse. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Nattie Boyd of Spring Valley: His Father, who resides in Oglesby: two sisters, Mrs. Roscoe (Martha) Burgess of Tonica and Thelma of Oklahoma: and two brothers, Wayne and Wilson Boyd of Oglesby. Private Boyd was employed by the Supreme Dairy at Oglesby before entering service in March of 1944, at Scott Field. He trained at Camp Pannin, Tex., before going to Ft. Meade, Md., and then going overseas last September.
