  • In Loving Memory of Private First Class Jerry Woodall Bronze Star Medal with “V” Device United States Army – 1st Engineer Combat Battalion, 1st Infantry Division Killed in Action – January 7, 1967, Republic of Vietnam My father, Private First Class Jerry Woodall, was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal with “V” device for his extraordinary heroism during a mine-clearing mission in Vietnam. As a demolition specialist, he knowingly faced grave danger to protect his fellow soldiers. Disregarding his own safety, he worked to disarm deadly mines until one tragically detonated, taking his life. His bravery, calm resolve, and devotion to duty saved lives and inspired those around him. I was just 8 months old when he was killed in action, but his love lives on through the few letters and photos I have of him, treasures I hold dear. Though I never had the chance to know him, I feel his presence in my heart every day. He will always be my hero. Proud Daughter of PFC Jerry Woodall
