  • Obituary for Cpl. Jason David Mileo
    CPL Jason David Mileo, USMC, died in Baghdad, Iraq, on Monday, April 14, 2003. He was 20.

    Born December 14, 1982, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Phillip James and Leah Marie Mileo Hall. He grew up in Pasadena, MD, and graduated from Chesapeake High School, Class of 2000. While in high school, he was on the Golf Team and participated in the Drama Club. He was also an avid hunter.

    Following graduation he enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 2000. After graduating Boot Camp at Paris Island, SC, he reported to the School of Infantry, Camp Lejeune, NC, in December 2000. After successfully completing his required training, he volunteered for Amphibious Reconnaissance School in 2001.

    Following Amphibious Reconnaissance School, Corporal Mileo was assigned to 3rd Bn 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Twenty-nine Palms, CA, in February 2001.

    During his tour with 3rd Bn 4th Marines, Corporal Mileo was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal and Corporal within the SAME YEAR. On the rifle range, he qualified Expert (three times) and on the pistol range, he qualified Sharpshooter.

    Corporal Mileo was Gray Belt certified in the Marine Corps Martial Arts program.

    Finally, Corporal Mileo was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Certificate of Commendation (Individual Award), the Purple Heart Medal, and “Operation Iraqi Freedom” campaign decoration.

    In addition to his parents, Cpl Mileo is survived by a brother, Zachary Andrew Hall of Centreville; his maternal grandmother, Margaret Mileo of Pasadena, MD; maternal grandfather, Vincent Mileo, Jr. of Glen Burnie, MD; paternal grandmother, Joyce Lingley Hall and paternal grandfather, Walter J. Hall, both of Pasadena, MD; and his maternal great-grandmother, Isabelle Redmond Mileo of Westminster, MD.

    Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Bible Church, 99 Truck House Road, Severna Park, MD on Thursday, April 24, 2003, at 10:00 AM.

    Family and friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Centreville, MD, on Wednesday from 2:00- 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

    Burial will be at the family cemetery, in Centreville, MD.
