  • Harold Fred Knodt, child of God, was a member of Arlington Hills Lutheran Church. His Memorial Service was held on May 7, 1944. The following information is taken from the Memorial program: Harold Fred Knodt Biography Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, June 11, 1920. Confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Arlington Hill, 1934. Attended Phalen Park Grade School, Cleveland Jr. High School and Johnson High School Service Record June, 1939 Enlisted in Co. "A" 206th Infantry of National Guard. Jan. 4, 1942 Enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Reported to San Diego, California. Took three months boot training and two months amphibious instructions. July, 1942 Left for overseas duty with the 22nd Marine Raiders. Feb 18, 1944 Killed in action. Feb 19, 1944 Buried in Grave one, Lot one of the American Cemetery on the Marshall Islands. Mar 22, 1944 Awarded the Order of the Purple Heart and Asiatic-Pacific War Medal posthumously.
