TRIBUTES

Honor your hero with thoughts, memories, images and stories.

  • Douglas served as a 1st Lieutenant, Battery B, 97th Field Artillery Battalion, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Massachusetts prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on January 16, 1941, prior to the war, in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in laundering and also as Single, without dependents.

Douglas died in the "Line Of Duty" in the Pacific area of a non-battle related incident during the war.

At the families request the state of "Maine" was added to his headstone instead of his state of residence (Massachusetts).

He was mistakenly noted as being from Aroostook County, Maine on the "Honor List of Dead & Missing of World War II" at archives and may have a family tie to that state or too New Hampshire.
