David Michael Vancellete joined the US Army serving in South Vietnam with Company C of the 2nd Battalion of the 7th Cavalry Regiment in the 1st Cavalry Division during 1965. On November 15th the 7th engaged the NVA in the three day Battle of the Ia Drang. David fought on the 17th near LZ Albanny and was killed in action after the 2nd Battalion was ambushed by the NVA.
