My dear Son, Barry: It has been over 5 year since you were tragically killed in action in Iraq. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you, miss you and Love you. I miss your beautiful smile, your big blue eyes, and your laugh. God has you in His arms now with the angels. Rest in Peace my sweet child. Your Momma will always love you and miss you.
How has the loss of your child impacted your family?
Barry's death has impacted me very severely. There are no words to explain the loss of a child. I suffer from depression and anxiety.
What did you love most about your child?
That he was my child.
What did your child want to be when they grew up?
Barry finished high school early, briefly attended college and then wanted to join the Military.
What do you miss most about your child?
I miss so many things about Barry, but I miss the sound of his precious voice. I miss his smile. his laugh, and his big blue eyes.
What has been the greatest challenge since the loss of your child?
The greatest challenge since losing Barry is trying to force myself to move ahead with my own life. It is hard to have to know that you will never see your child again until the end of your life.
What message would you like to share with families with a loved one still serving in the military?
Always tell them you love them every chance you get and let them know how proud you are of them.
What message would you like to share with other Gold Star families?
God is with us all the time.
What was your child like in high school?
laid back, energetic but easy going.
What was your Hero like as a child?
Barry was a very laid back, easy going child. He was very intelligent and loved sports. He loved basketball and loves do shoot pool.
Which hobbies or activities did your child enjoy most?
Barry loved hanging out with his friends, playing basketball, and shooting pool.
