My father was born and raised in New York state. His brothers also served in the military, but all three managed to make it home safely from their deployments. My father met my mother, Eleanor Caccavale and we lived in White Meadow Lake, New Jersey until June of 1967, when the family moved to California. My father served in the US Marine Corps for 8 years. His name is located on the Vietnam memorial Wall, Panel 24E, Line 97. He was killed in action, on 8-9-67 in Quang Nam, South Vietnam. My father was married previously to June, and had one child from his first marriage, Pamela Phelps. Pamela passed away in November, 2015, from a brain tumor.
