  • Paul and I met in high school and later married. We were married only 13 months when he was killed in Vietnam. Paul loved the Marines and he loved his country.
    How did you meet your spouse?

    What did you love most about your spouse?
    I loved Paul for he was a giving and caring person. He loved God and his country.
    What do you miss most about your spouse?
    I miss looking in his blue eyes and listening to him sing.I miss everything about him.
    What did your spouse bring to your family?
    He brought love to the family.
    What was your wedding like?
    It was a simple wedding at the court house.
    Please share a holiday memory of your spouse (i.e. birthday, religious holiday, vacation).
    Paul loved to play golf. I would go with him and his brother on Sunday to the golf course. I mostly just chased after the balls. On my birthday he bought me a set of the most beautiful golf clubs which turned out to be for him. I got a good laugh from that.
    What was your spouse most passionate about?
    He was most passionate about his family.
    Tell us about your spouse’s personality.
    Paul was a sweet and caring person. I never heard him speak an unkind word about anyone.
    What inspired your spouse to join the military?
    He loved his country and wanted to make a better life for us both.
    What was your spouse’s relationship like with you and with your children (if applicable)?
    We loved each other and had respect for each other. We didn't have any children which we wanted.
    How has the loss of your spouse impacted your family?
    We live with the loss of Paul every day. We miss him dearly.
    What has been the greatest challenge since the loss of your spouse?
    Learning to go on with my life like Paul would want me to.
    Tell us about your experience as a military family (i.e. duty stations, friendships, etc.).
    We were only married six months when he joined the military.He went to boot camp and then home for a short time before he left for Vietnam.
