TRIBUTES

Honor your hero with thoughts, memories, images and stories.

  • Mark Lowell Titus was born November, 1919, in Watkins Glen, New York. He graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1938, and then he attended Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania. After receiving his bachelor of arts degree at Albright, he intended to study law, but by then World War II had intervened. He then enrolled in the naval officers' training school at Columbia University. In 1943 he shipped out, via San Francisco for the Pacific. He served on an LST until March 11, 1944, he gave his life for his country.

This tribute is being written by his nephew, Donald K. Brasted, who saw his uncle for the last time at the age of 8, but remembers him as the attentive uncle who took him for long walks, and taught him to fish.
