  • Sgt Leroy H. Erickson served during WW2 in the 106th Infantry Division, 422nd infantry Regiment. Sgt LeRoy H. Erickson was born in St. Paul Minnesota September 25, 1922 and was graduated from Washington High School in 1940. He was called into service March 13, 1943 and was shipped overseas to Europe (ETO)in October 1944. On December 16, 1944 Sgt Erickson was reported missing during the beginning of the Battle of the Buldge, but later it was learned that he was wounded and taken prisoner. While he was being moved in a boxcar to the German prison camp, the car was hit by a bomb from an American plane, and he suffered a fatal wound. The exact date of his death is not known, but it is believed to have been about January 15, 1945. He was initially buried in Germany, but his remains were later transported back to the U.S. to be buried in Minnesota.
