    Our American Hero
    US Army Pfc.Andrew E.Lara
    Hometown: Albany, Oregon
Andrew Lara was a 2004 South Albany High School graduate and was known for his love of baseball, football and wrestling. He played all three sports, mostly at the junior varsity level, his freshman and sophomore years. Andrew’s dad supported his love of sports by coaching his JV baseball and football teams. Andrew was a student of these team sports and understood what everybody else’s position and role was, on his team and opponents. A skill that made him succeed as a member of the U.S military. Andrew built log homes after graduation. He loved music and outdoor activities. In June of 2009, Andrew enlisted in the Oregon National Guard. He drilled out of Woodburn and was deployed in September. Spc. Andrew E. Lara was assigned to F-Company, 145th Brigade Support Battalion, attached to the 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Regiment. The 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team, headquartered at Gowen Field in Boise, Idaho, is made up of soldiers from the Idaho, Oregon, and Montana National Guards. Spc. Andrew Lara was a driver for one of the convoy escort teams. He drove a mine-resistant ambush protected vehicle designed to protect supplies and personnel during transport. United States Army National Guardsman Specialist Andrew E. Lara, 25, of Albany, Oregon, departed this life, April 27, 2011, of a non-combat related incident, in serving in Babil province Iraq, with F Company, 145th Brigade Support Battalion, attached to the 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Regiment. He was supporting Operation New Dawn when he gave the last full measure of devotion to our country. Forever Remember US Army Pfc.Andrew E.Lara Lord this wonderful young man served this country with honor and courage. We ask that You hold his family and friends at home in Your arms and protect his military family that also mourns his loss. His parents lost a beautiful son, and daughter who will never know her daddy here on earth. Please Father; watch over his brother who is serving in the military to see your blessings through this difficult time while he continues the legacy of his brother. — with Ramiro Lara.
